Sales for consultancy dropped most

In Q2 2012, seasonally adjusted sales in services declined by 0.3%, quarter-on-quarter, at constant prices. After working day adjustment they decreased by 1.1%, without adjustment by 1.8%, both year-on-year. The only year-on-year growth was recorded in administrative and support service activities and in transportation and storage.

In Q2 2012, seasonally adjusted sales in services 1 ) decreased by 0.3%, quarter-on-quarter, at constant prices. After working day adjustment they fell by 1.1%, year-on-year (Q2 2012 was by two working days shorter than that of the previous year). Sales without adjustment declined by 1.8%. A growth was recorded only in administrative and support service activities and in transportation and storage.

Year-on-year development of not seasonally adjusted sales in services broken down by CZ-NACE division:

    - sales in transportation and storage increased by 0.4% due to a growth in sales in warehousing and support activities for transportation (+4.7%) and in water transport (+8.6%). Other divisions of transportation recorded a decline in sales - land transport and transport via pipelines (-0.7%), postal and courier activities (-8.5%), and air transport (-9.6%);

    - sales in accommodation and food service activities decreased by 1.7% due to a decline in sales in food and beverage service activities (-4.7%). Conversely, accommodation showed a growth (+3.0%);

    - in information and communication the decrease of sales, which started in the Q2 2011, continued and was -1.7% this time. The deepest drop in sales occurred in music and motion picture activities by 9.6%. In telecommunications and in publishing activities there were almost identical drops observed (-3.2% and -3.1%, respectively). Information service activities had sales lower by 2.0%. The overall decrease in this CZ-NACE Section activities was mitigated by development in sales in programming and broadcasting activities (+10.8%) and in computer programming, consultancy and related activities (+0.5%), which include, for example, computer programming activities, computer facilities management activities, and computer consultancy activities;

    - sales in real estate activities dropped by 5.0%. Sales declined both in buying and selling of own real estate and renting and operating of own or leased real estate (-2.9%) and in real estate activities on a fee or contract basis (-9.4%);

    - sales in professional, scientific and technical activities 2) decreased by 7.2%. Sales declined in all divisions of activities, by the deepest decline was in activities of head offices; management consultancy activities (-12.4%), and then in other professional, scientific and technical activities (-10.4%). Sales for legal and accounting activities and for architectural and engineering activities decreased identically by 7.0%;

    - sales in administrative and support service activities 3) increased by 1.9%, first of all, due to a growth in sales for employment activities (+14.0%). Other growth in sales was recorded for travel agency, tour operator and other reservation service and related activities (+4.0%) and services to buildings and landscape activities (+1.9%). On the contrary, there was a drop in sales reported in rental and leasing activities (-3.9%), in security and investigation activities (-3.6%), and also in office administrative, office support and other business support activities (-0.6%) following seven quarters of a growth.
