Code: r-9101-13

In July, sales in retail trade including the automotive segment after seasonal adjustment increased by 0.7% at constant prices, month-on-month. Working days adjusted sales reached the same growth, y-o-y. Non-adjusted sales increased by 4.0%, y-o-y.

Seasonally adjusted sales in retail trade including sale and repair of motor vehicles increased in July at constant prices by 0.7%, month-on-month, the same as working days adjusted sales, year-on-year. Non-adjusted sales increased by 4.0%, y-o-y. The results were influenced by a higher number of working days in July 2013 (+2) compared to July 2012. The automotive segment contributed more to the y-o-y sales growth (+3.0 p.p.) than the retail trade alone (+1.0 p.p.), see Table 2.

Seasonally adjusted sales for sale and repair of motor vehicles (CZ-NACE 45) increased by 0.3% at constant prices, m-o-m. Year-on-year, working days adjusted sales increased by 4.4%. Year-on-year, non-adjusted sales increased by 10.7%; for sale of motor vehicles (including spare parts) they increased by 11.1% and for repairs they grew by 9.0%.

In retail trade including sale of automotive fuel (CZ-NACE 47) seasonally adjusted sales at constant prices increased by 0.7%, m-o-m; working days adjusted sales decreased by 0.7%, y-o-y. Non-adjusted sales increased by 1.4%, y-o-y; for non-food goods and food they increased (+3.1% and +1.4%, respectively), while for the automotive fuel sales dropped by 4.1%.

The growth of sales in retail trade was influenced the most by growth of retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet (+25.8%) and by food sale in non-specialized stores (+1.8%). In specialized stores, sales increased for sale of information and communication equipment in specialised stores (+9.0%), retail sale of cultural and recreation goods in specialised stores (+3.3%), sale of dispensing chemist, medical and orthopaedic goods, cosmetic and toilet articles in specialised stores (+3.1%), and retail sale of clothing and footwear in specialised stores (+0.9%). On the contrary, sales decreased for sale of food in specialized stores (-3.0%) and for retail sale of other household equipment in specialised stores (-0.5%).

The price deflator (CZ-NACE 47) related to the corresponding period of the previous year (VAT excluded) was 100.4%. The highest y-o-y growth of prices was recorded for food and dispensing chemist, medical and orthopaedic goods, cosmetic and toilet articles, and automotive fuel, while in most of non-food goods decreasing of prices continued, which was the most marked in the assortment of information and communication equipment.
