Population - Reports on quality

 

  • EU Member States provide the Commission (Eurostat) with reports on the quality of data transmitted on the base of Article 12 – Statistical quality of the Regulation (EC) No 223/2009 on European statistics (which was amended by Regulation (EU) No 2015/759).

     

  • Demographic and migration statistics

    Specific requirements are laid down in Regulation (EU) 1260/2013 on European demographic statistics, which establishes a common legal framework for the development, production and dissemination of European statistics on population and vital events, and in implementing Regulation (EU) 205/2014 laying down uniformed conditions for the implementation of Regulation (EU) 1260/2013, as regards breakdowns of data, deadlines and data revisions.

    For migration statistics, specific requirements are laid down in Regulation (EC) 862/2007 on Community statistics on migration and international protection, which establishes common rules for the collection and compilation of Community statistics on migration and international protection, and in Regulation (EU) 351/2010 implementing Regulation (EC) No 862/2007 as regards the definitions of the categories of the groups of country of birth, groups of country of previous usual residence, groups of country of next usual residence and groups of citizenship.

    Report is provided regularly each year. Furthermore, according to Article 12 of Regulation (EC) 862/2007, Commission submits a report to the European Parliament and the Council on the statistics compiled pursuant to this Regulation and on their quality (starting by year 2012).

    Causes of death

    Specific quality requirements are laid down in Regulation (EC) 1338/2008 on public health and health and safety at work which establishes a common framework for data collection, and Regulation (EU) 328/2011, implementing Regulation (EC) No 1338/2008, as regards statistics on causes of death.

    Report on quality is provided regularly each year. Once in five years is provided more comprehensive report – the most recent one is for the years 2014–2018.
